When you think of photo booths or photo experiences, your first thought might not be sports but some of our very favourite and more creative projects have been based around sports. It’s been a sporty few weeks here at the studio, too. We’ve been getting a booth ready for the HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series at Twickenham (hopefully we’ll see you there!), are working on something fun for Puma, and on top of that we’ve been getting in the Olympic spirit since the GB Olympic kits were unveiled two weeks ago.
All of that sportiness got us thinking back to some of those favourite projects of ours. Check them out below. If they don’t get you in the sporting spirit, nothing will.
We were commissioned by Synergy Sponsorship to create a unique fan experience for Emirates, the Worldwide Partner of the Rugby World Cup 2015. And we couldn’t think of anything more unique than bullet time photography. How epic are these pictures? Rugby fans have never looked so majestic and patriotic, if you ask us. You can read more about the project here!
Okay, okay, so bullet time photography is amazing but how about a sprinting photo? To celebrate the launch of a new Puma trainer, we created a booth that allowed guests to try to beat Usain Bolt’s starting time off of the blocks. As soon as they took of, a laser was triggered, which set off the camera. The guests might not have been able to beat Bolt’s time but at least they got a great memento out of it. You can see more of our custom laser-triggered set up and read more about the project here.
We couldn’t talk about our Puma sprinting laser-triggered photos without talking about our Nike slam dunk ones. You read right: slam dunk photo booth. This time we used our laser motion trigger technology to capture guests as they were slam dunking. It was part of the World Basketball Festival, which was held in Brixton and needless to say it was a popular experience.
It still seems like yesterday that the whole of London was transformed for the 2012 Summer Olympics. We were honoured to get to be a part of the magic through P&G. They built Salons across London, one of which was in Athlete’s Village. Athletes and guests who visited the P&G Salon were pampered and able to capture the experience in one of our photo booths. We even got a visit from the former Mayor!
Now with the Rugby Sevens just around the corner and the Rio Olympics just beyond that, we are looking forward to an entire summer full of sport and celebration.
